About tear-strip sleeves

The tear strip does two jobs at once: it signals to the customer that the product hasn't been opened, and it removes the need for a separate tamper seal.

A tear-strip sleeve has a perforated strip built into it. Pulling the strip opens the sleeve in one clean motion, and because the strip can't be put back, anyone can see if the pack has been opened. It's a simple, low-cost kind of tamper evidence.

Use it for products where a sealed pack matters, such as supplements, cosmetics and food, or where easy opening is a feature. The perforation can run across the top, around the middle or along a side. Tell us where you want it and we'll place it so the sleeve stays firm until it's pulled.

Frequently asked questions

What is a tear-strip sleeve?

A tear-strip sleeve has a perforated line you pull to open it. Once the strip is torn the sleeve is visibly opened, which shows the pack was sealed. It also makes opening quick and tidy.

Can a sleeve have a tear-away middle line, so the top half comes off?

Yes. A perforated line across the middle lets the top half tear away while the bottom half keeps holding the product. This works well for food sleeves where customers peel the top down as they eat.

Is a tear strip tamper evident?

Yes. The strip can't be put back without showing, so it works as simple tamper evidence. It suits supplements, cosmetics and food that need to look sealed.

Can I order tear-strip sleeves in small quantities?

Yes, from 100 units. That's useful for a first run or a product launch. Prices drop as the quantity goes up.

What's the minimum order quantity for tear-strip sleeves?

The minimum order is 100 units. Pricing improves at higher quantities, with per-unit cost dropping substantially by 1,000 and 5,000 units.

How much do custom tear-strip sleeves cost?

Around $1.50 per unit at 100 units, dropping to around $0.36 at 5,000 units, for a single-color print on standard board before any finishes. Use the price calculator on this page for an estimate matched to your size, material, and finish.

What are tear-strip sleeves typically used for?

Common uses include Food and beverage, Supplements and pharmacy items, Subscription boxes. If your product doesn't fit one of these categories, our team can still recommend the right style for it.

Do you provide design or dieline support?

Yes - dieline templates and basic design support are included free with your order. You don't need finished artwork to request a quote.
