Custom Packaging Sleeves for Soap
Custom sleeves for bar soap, sized to wrap a folded label or bare bar.
Most soap sleeves are a belly band or a simple box sleeve that wraps a bar without sealing it in, so the soap can breathe and its color shows. Kraft and recycled board are popular here for the artisan, natural-ingredient look many soap brands want.

Which sleeve is best for a bar of soap?
Most soap makers choose one of three sleeves. They all leave the bar uncovered at the ends or through a window, so it is never sealed in plastic.
- Belly band: a single strip that wraps around the middle of the bar. It is the lowest-cost choice and the most popular for handmade soap, because the bar stays visible and you only print a band.
- Box sleeve: a four-sided sleeve that covers most of the bar. It has the most room for your brand, ingredients and barcode, and it feels more premium.
- Window sleeve: a box sleeve with a cut-out so customers can see the color and texture of the soap before they buy.
A hang-tab sleeve adds a tab for peg-hook displays, if you sell in shops.
How to size a soap sleeve
Measure your bar's length, width and thickness. For a belly band, the length of the band is the distance around the bar (twice the width plus twice the thickness) plus about half an inch to overlap. The sleeve is made to your exact size, so there are no stock sizes to squeeze into.
| Bar size (L x W x thickness) | Distance around the bar | Belly band length |
|---|---|---|
| 2.5 x 1.75 x 0.75 in (guest size) | 5.0 in | About 5.5 in |
| 3.5 x 2.25 x 1.1 in (common handmade bar) | 6.7 in | About 7.2 in |
| 4 x 2.5 x 1.25 in (large bar) | 7.5 in | About 8.0 in |
These are examples. Enter your own measurements in the calculator on any style page, or use our measuring guide.
Kraft or white board for soap?
Kraft board gives the natural, handmade look that many soap brands want, and one dark ink prints crisply on it. White board gives the brightest colors, which suits bold or colorful designs. Recycled board sits in between and suits brands that want to say so on the pack. You can compare them on the materials pages.
What to print on a soap sleeve
- Your logo and the soap's name or scent, large enough to read from a shelf
- A short line about what makes it special, such as the oils or botanicals
- Ingredients, weight and your contact details. Check the labeling rules for your kind of soap and where you sell it.
- A barcode, if you sell through shops
Not sure how to lay it out? Free design support is included, and you only need your logo to start.
Frequently asked questions
What size sleeve do I need for a bar of soap?
It depends on your bar. For a belly band, measure the distance around the bar and add about half an inch to overlap. For a box sleeve, use the bar's length, width and thickness plus a little clearance so it slides on easily. Every sleeve is made to your size.
Should I use a belly band or a box sleeve for soap?
A belly band costs less and keeps the bar visible, so it suits handmade and natural soap. A box sleeve covers more of the bar and has room for ingredients and a barcode, so it suits shops and gift sets. Many brands start with a band and move to a box sleeve as they grow.
Can I print ingredients and a barcode on the sleeve?
Yes. Any text, ingredient list, weight, QR code or barcode can be part of your artwork. Check the labeling rules for your type of soap and where you sell it.
Is a sleeve good for handmade soap?
Yes. A sleeve does not wrap the bar tightly or seal it in, so the soap can breathe, and the bar's color and texture stay visible. That is why sleeves are so popular with handmade soap makers.
Can I order a small quantity of soap sleeves?
Yes. Orders start at 100 sleeves, which suits small makers and first runs. The price per sleeve drops as the quantity goes up.
What sleeve style works best for soap?
Belly Bands, Box Sleeves, Window Sleeves, Tab-Lock Sleeves, Hang-Tab Sleeves are the most common choices for soap. If you're not sure which fits, our team will recommend one at no cost.
How much does custom packaging cost for soap?
Around $0.95 per unit at 100 units, dropping to around $0.24 at 5,000 units, for a single-color print on standard board. Open any style above to price your exact size, material and finish.
