Custom Packaging Sleeves for Candles
Sleeves that wrap a candle jar or tin without covering the flame-visible top.
Because the container itself is usually glass or tin, the sleeve's job is branding and shelf presence - a window cut lets the wax color show through, which matters for scent- and color-driven buying decisions.

Which sleeve is best for a candle?
It depends on what your candle comes in. Most candle brands use one of these.
- Jar or tin sleeve: a wrap that goes around the outside of a round jar or tin. It is the most common choice, and it lets you buy one plain jar and brand every scent with its own sleeve.
- Box sleeve: a four-sided sleeve over a boxed candle. It has more room to print and feels more giftable.
- Window sleeve: a box sleeve with a cut-out, so the color of the wax shows. Scent and color often decide the sale, so this works well.
- Belly band: a thin strip with your logo and scent name. The lowest cost, and good for a simple, clean look.
How to size a sleeve for a round candle jar
Measure the distance around the jar at the spot where the sleeve will sit. Add about half an inch where the ends overlap. If you only know the width, multiply it by 3.14 to get the distance around.
| Jar width | Distance around | Sleeve length |
|---|---|---|
| 2.5 in (small tin) | 7.9 in | About 8.4 in |
| 3 in (common jar) | 9.4 in | About 9.9 in |
| 3.5 in (large jar) | 11.0 in | About 11.5 in |
These are examples. Measure your own jar. Our guide on sizing sleeves for round products shows how.
A safety tip worth printing
A paper sleeve and a flame do not mix. Ask customers to take the sleeve off before they light the candle, and say so on the sleeve itself. Also check what warnings and details your candles must show where you sell them, such as burn safety text, weight and ingredients. The rules depend on your market.
Kraft or white board for candles?
Kraft gives a natural, handmade look, and one dark ink looks rich on it. It is a good fit for soy and botanical brands. White board gives the brightest colors, which suits bold or colorful scents. Recycled board works if you want to say your packaging is recycled.

No. Paper should never sit around a lit candle. Tell customers to remove the sleeve before lighting, and print that on the sleeve.
